my wife wanted to run this afternoon, so i went and picked her up from work to speed things along. we got home, changed and hit the road.
as we were walking a couple of blocks north into the wind, my wife made the comment that she wanted to get past that "i've got to walk" feeling. that will be important later on.
we got to the corner of allen and pine and took off running basically the same loop i did this morning with a few slight variations and an extra two blocks.
the first half of the run was fairly easy. the wind was mostly at our backs and we flew along. my wife says she never flies, but she was flying despite her pessimism. we turned this way and that and wound our way to the railroad tracks.
as soon as we turned to climb up and over the tracks, my wife slowed and started walking. i looked back at her and said, "come on. i'm not stopping." i then turned my head and kept going. i am so mean. since she didn't have much choice and because she wasn't going to let me get away, she started running again. we ran three more blocks south and one east. the "into the wind" section was about to pounce upon us.
running north on main was not very much fun. the wind fought against every step. we pushed through it and covered the three blocks up and over the railroad tracks.
once across the tracks we zigzagged our way back to our starting point taking two blocks or three blocks at a time into the wind.
i'm proud of my wife. she didn't give up when it got painful. can't wait to run with her again.
